Design Example: A/D Converter Circuit
The comparison results are output in digital code! Introducing design examples of A/D converter circuits.
We introduce a design case of Frontier Technology: "A/D Converter Circuit." The sample and hold circuit charges the analog input voltage to a capacitor at a constant interval and performs a successive comparison based on charge redistribution (comparing with the output voltage from the D/A converter). The comparison results are output as digital codes. This is suitable for applications such as mobile devices that require battery operation and has a track record of being implemented in low-power sensor ICs. 【Layout Design Points】 - The capacitor array section should use a common centroid arrangement to minimize variation. - Care should be taken in wiring to ensure that the parasitic capacitance considers the weighting of each capacitor group. - Dummy capacitors are placed around the periphery of the capacitor array as a measure to prevent capacitance value errors due to etching, stabilizing the capacitance value of one unit. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
